What exactly do you do? What does your typical day look like?
The day usually starts the same way – going through emails and having a short meeting with the team to align. After that, it varies depending on what’s on the agenda. This can include conceptualizing different projects, holding online meetings with clients and developers, testing new developments, and gathering feedback.
In the autumn and winter months, things tend to get busier, as the annual updates for our online calculators need to be implemented. I also provide second-level support for our online calculators and assist the team with questions related to often very complex social security and income tax topics. I like to describe myself as a translator between legal texts and developers. 😊
What makes your daily work at haude electronica special?
I love the flexibility that is offered here. I can work whenever I want (within certain limits, of course). It’s not a rigid 9 to 5 job – I can decide for myself when to get my work done. Especially as a part-time working mother, this is a big advantage, as I can start my workday later if needed. The option to work from home also makes everyday life easier.
What I also value a lot is the family-like, friendly and fun atmosphere within the team. Conversations often go beyond purely work-related topics – which makes working together even more enjoyable.
What is your favourite place in the office?
I love our large conference room. Our entire office is in a historic building, but this room is especially beautiful. High ceilings with ornate stucco detailing, a French balcony… It’s a very bright, welcoming space where many great projects have already been created – and it continues to inspire me.
What is your “happy place” after work? How and where do you relax?
That’s easy to answer: my little plot of land. It’s my retreat, my sanctuary, my everything. Here, I get my hands and feet in the soil, observe animals and let the stress drain into the ground. We’re currently creating a small traditional orchard with old varieties that my husband and I discovered at various events focused on heritage fruit. Our latest additions were a Galloway-Pepping and a Batullen apple.
Another passion of mine is my microcar – many people know these vehicles as “three-wheelers”. The most famous model is the BMW Isetta, which I’ve always dreamed of. Right now, I own a bright red Heinkel Trojan. My husband and I are also members of the classic car club “Karo Club Austria”. Meeting like-minded enthusiasts of vintage vehicles is fun, inspiring, and provides a wonderful balance to my work life.
We enjoy cooking for a good cause at the company. What do you like to eat most?
I love soups in all variations (especially potato soup) and stews. I also enjoy classic, hearty home-style cooking – roasts with gravy and a side salad – wonderful! At the same time, I’m quite easygoing and eat pretty much anything. The only things I really can’t stand are raisins and overcooked vegetables in a mushy roux! 😉
Who would you like to work with someday – whether it’s a colleague from another department or a superstar – and why?
A dream would be to meet Marie Curie and Lise Meitner. They are just two of the many remarkable women who achieved great things at a time where women were socially and politically expected to focus solely on family life. Despite all the obstacles, they followed their “calling” with tremendous courage and deep passion for their fields. They were trailblazers and pioneers. And even today, there are many admirable women accomplishing great things and representing the long, challenging path to equality.
I would also find a collaboration with Gunter Mayr inspiring, who served as interim Finance Minister in 2024/25. To me, he’s a real expert in taxation. I’d love to be a fly on the wall when it comes to developing ideas for implementing new tax laws.
Which app on your phone could you never live without?
Since gardening is my favourite activity after work – definitely PlantNet. With this app, you can photograph plants – whether trees, shrubs, flowers or herbs – and have them identified based on the uploaded images. Very practical and something I use a lot. I’m still looking for a good equivalent for animals – especially insects. Maybe someone has some tips? 😊
